Two questions come up more than any others when you sell second-hand. At home, with a bag of clothes tipped out on the bed: which of these is worth listing? In a charity shop, with a ticket in your hand: is this worth buying? Underneath, they're the same question. What will it actually sell for? Mint answers both from a photo.
At home: what's your wardrobe worth?
Photograph the things you're not sure about. Mint reads the brand, the kind of item and the condition, and tells you what it's likely to sell for, so you can sort the pile into list it, bundle it or let it go before you spend an evening on listings that were never going to pay.
When something's worth selling, the I bought it — list it button turns the valuation into a listing. Choose It's my own and it's counted at £0, the right cost for clothes you already had, so your profit figures stay honest. If you already know you're selling it, go straight to List with Mint: one photo, and Mint writes the whole listing, price included.
In the shop: before you buy
Photograph it before you queue. Mint tells you what it's likely to resell for and gives you a Pay up to price, a third of that, which is the usual line because it leaves room for fees, postage and the wait. If it can't see a brand, it asks for a photo of the label rather than guessing, since the brand moves the price more than anything else. Bought it? The same button turns it into a listing with what you paid and where you found it.
A first read, not a promise
Mint's figure is an estimate from live listings, which makes it a quick, sensible first read rather than a guaranteed sale price. For most everyday pieces it's enough to decide on.
