Very Minted
Sell with Very Minted

The service terms, in plain English.

What you agree to when you sell your things with us — and what we promise you back. Readable on purpose, but still the agreement between us.

Version 2026-08-18.draft-1 · Last updated 18 August 2026

These terms cover the Sell with Very Minted resale service, provided by Diocletian Ltd(“Very Minted”, “we”), Company No. 16419314, 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA. They apply alongside your accepted Wardrobe Assessment: together, the two form the agreement for each transaction. They are separate from the Very Minted platform terms, which cover the software.

These terms are new and are being professionally reviewed. The version shown above is the one you accept when you send us goods, and it is the version that applies to that transaction. If we change these terms, the change applies to new intakes, not retrospectively.

1. The service

You hand over unwanted clothing, shoes, bags, jewellery and accessories in one go. We assess every item and propose the most suitable route for each:

  • Sell to Us — we buy accepted everyday items outright at £1 per kilogram of accepted weight.
  • Sell for Me — we sell selected higher-value items on your behalf and share the proceeds with you.

The proposal is the Wardrobe Assessment. Nothing is bought, listed or disposed of until you accept it, and you may ask for any item recommended for Sell for Me to be moved to the £1/kg Sell to Us offer instead (we’ll issue a revised assessment for you to accept).

2. Your promises to us

  • You own every item you send us, or have the authority to sell it.
  • Branded goods submitted as genuine are genuine, to the best of your knowledge.
  • The information you give us is accurate, and you’ll supply authenticity evidence (receipts, serial numbers, packaging and similar) when we reasonably ask for it.

3. What we accept

Adult clothing, shoes, handbags, fashion accessories, designer jewellery, hallmarked precious-metal jewellery, and designer or luxury watches (jewellery and watches are always individually assessed and valued — never bought by weight). Acceptance is subject to our category, brand, condition and authenticity standards, and every acceptance decision is ours to make.

We do not accept, in any condition:

  • children’s clothing and kidswear;
  • suits, underwear, wedding dresses, costume or high-street jewellery;
  • tailored or altered items, bedding and household textiles;
  • promotional or gift-with-purchase items, uniforms, and personalised or branded workwear;
  • homeware, furniture, electricals, toys, books and other non-fashion goods;
  • items from excluded ultra-low-cost sources (including SHEIN, Temu, Romwe and Zaful), and unbranded marketplace items whose origin can’t be established;
  • items with the brand label or care/composition label cut out, removed or obscured;
  • counterfeit goods (see clause 9);
  • anything with stains, rips or marks, or in an unhygienic condition.

Swimwear, bodysuits, pyjamas, sleepwear and slippers are accepted only new with original tags attached and any hygiene stickers intact. Condition standards vary by brand tier: high-street pieces must be new with tags or like new; premium and designer pieces may show minor signs of wear that we judge commercially acceptable and clearly disclose.

4. Getting goods to us, and getting an answer

  • Drop-off — by booked appointment. The appointment is a handover, not an on-the-spot valuation.
  • Post — you pay the inbound postage. Goods travel at your risk until we sign for them; we recommend a tracked service.
  • Collection — available in our local area for a charge we confirm with you individually before anything is arranged.

Every bag or package is weighed on receipt, with photographic evidence of the scale reading kept on record. We use trade-approved weighing equipment, and the weight used for payment is the accepted weight after assessment — goods only, without packaging.

Intakes up to 10kg receive their Wardrobe Assessment within 5 working days of physical receipt (working days exclude weekends and bank holidays). For larger intakes we confirm the timeframe when the goods arrive.

5. Sell to Us

  1. The offer is £1 per kilogram of accepted weight, shown on your assessment.
  2. Low resale value alone is not a reason for us to reject an otherwise acceptable item.
  3. Jewellery and watches are never part of the per-kilogram calculation; any offer for them is individual and itemised.
  4. Where we choose to accept an item that needs minor preparation before resale (a refresh wash, a loose thread, a button), a disclosed preparation deduction may be applied. Any deduction is itemised on the assessment before you accept — never added afterwards.
  5. When you accept the final assessment, we pay you within 5 working days, and ownership of the accepted goods transfers to us on payment. From then on we may sell, bundle, discount, hold, donate or otherwise deal with them as we see fit.
  6. If you decline the offer, nothing transfers. You collect the goods or pay the return postage; if you do neither, the uncollected-goods process in clause 8 applies.

6. Sell for Me

  1. By accepting a Sell for Me assessment you appoint us as your agent to sell the listed items, exclusively, for 12 months from acceptance.
  2. Your assessment shows an estimated selling range for each item. The lower figure is your minimum authorised selling price: we may accept any amount at or above it, manage the price in response to demand, and negotiate with buyers — but we never sell below it without your explicit approval. The range is an estimate, not a guarantee.
  3. You authorise us to choose the marketplace(s), create and manage the listings, cross-list, remove listings, hold the goods, and handle buyers, postage, returns and disputes. Your payout is governed by these terms, not by any marketplace’s seller timings.
  4. Your share of each item’s final selling price: 50% up to £249.99, 60% from £250 to £999.99, and 70% at £1,000 or more. Ordinary UK outbound postage and standard packaging come out of our share.
  5. Where an item needs specialist cleaning, repair or professional authentication, we tell you the cost and ask you to authorise it first. Authorised costs may be deducted from your eventual proceeds, and remain payable if authentication fails.
  6. We pay your share within 5 working days of the item’s payout eligibility date: the later of 14 calendar days after confirmed delivery to the buyer, the sale funds clearing to us, and there being no active return, cancellation, authenticity review, chargeback or dispute. If a marketplace imposes a longer mandatory hold, that hold applies.

7. Changing your mind — early withdrawal

Before you accept the final assessment you can decline any recommendation without charge (you cover return postage if the goods are to be sent back). After you accept, removing an item during the 12-month selling period costs £25 per item. We take the item off sale within 48 hours of your request, unless a completed sale, binding offer or active bid already prevents withdrawal — a sold item can’t be withdrawn. Return postage, and any authentication, cleaning or repair costs you had already authorised, are payable in addition.

8. Items we can’t accept, and uncollected goods

Before sending anything, you choose what we should do with items we can’t accept: you collect them, we return them at your cost, or we donate wearable items for reuse and send unsuitable textiles for recycling (reuse takes priority where practical).

Where goods are waiting on you — rejected items you chose to collect, a declined offer, or Sell for Me items at the end of their term — we write to you with the options and any amount due. You then have 14 calendar days to respond, with a reminder around day 7. If nothing happens, a final written notice gives a further 14 calendar days and explains what will happen next. After that final deadline, and subject to applicable law, suitable low-value goods may be donated for reuse and unsuitable textiles recycled; higher-value goods are dealt with through the legally appropriate uncollected-goods process rather than being casually disposed of.

9. Authenticity and counterfeits

We never knowingly list or sell counterfeit goods. If a concern is raised about an item, it is quarantined and not listed while we request evidence and/or professional authentication. If authenticity can’t be adequately established, the item is not sold. A confirmed counterfeit is never sold and may, where the law requires, not be returnable to you; you remain responsible for authorised authentication costs, and for losses we reasonably incur where an item you submitted as genuine is established to be counterfeit.

10. What ends up in a Sell for Me term’s final month

Towards the end of the 12 months we’ll contact you about anything unsold. Your options: take it back (collect, or pay return postage), agree a further selling period, accept a Sell to Us offer if we make one, or authorise donation. No response is handled by the clause 8 notice process.

11. Care of your goods, and liability

We take reasonable care of goods in our possession, store them appropriately, and use tracked — and where appropriate insured — delivery for higher-value outbound items. If an item is lost or damaged while with us or in outbound transit, we’ll deal with the courier or marketplace process ourselves rather than leaving it to you, and we’ll agree a fair resolution with you informed by the item’s estimated selling range. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited. For items you believe are worth more than £2,500, tell us before sending them so we can agree appropriate handling and cover first.

12. Your data

We process your details, your photos and your transaction records to run the service — see our Privacy policy. Assessment records, weights and photographs are retained as evidence of each transaction.

13. General

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still stands. Questions, or anything you’d like explained before you send us a single sock: hello@vminted.com.
